SUMMARY:"Poisons of the mind" retreat with Lama Tsering
DESCRIPTION:Shakyamuni Buddha taught that there are 84\,000 poisons of the mind and that these give rise to obscurations and afflictive emotions\, distancing us from enlightenment. However\, each of the poisons - such as ignorance\, anger\, desire\, pride\, and envy - has an aspect of wisdom. By getting to know them\, we can gain insights into how to put an end to suffering.. \nDuring this retreat\, Lama Tsering will offer all the necessary tools to use the poisons of the mind as a path to enlightenment\, including reflections on how these poisons distort our perception of events and influence our actions of body\, speech and mind. \nAbout Lama Tsering: \nBorn in the US\, Lama Tsering served H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche as his translator for more than eleven years. \nAfter completing a three-year retreat in 1995\, she was ordained as a lama and became authorized to give teachings and empowerments of Vajrayana Buddhism. We then perform three prostrations\, as a sign of respect. \n- Please do not point your feet at statues\, lamas and sacred objects. \n- Please do step over sacred texts\, practice objects or benches. \n- Please do not place texts directly on the floor \n- Sacred texts are lent for use during meditation practices only and are not to be taken home or copied without the permission of the temple. \n- It is not considered auspicious to step over the sacred texts or the benches used as practice tables. \n- Please do not use another person's practice objects without prior authorization. \n- If you find an object that does not belong to you\, please deliver it to the office (located on the mezzanine of the dining hall).
